POLICLETO'S "DORIFORO" ARRIVES TO BUENOS AIRES!
This greek sculpture discovered in 1797 in Naples, Italy, arrives to Buenos Aires at Museo de Bellas Artes. It is the first time that such an important antique master piece travels to Argentina.  In my opinion, “Doriforo” is the most influential work of art for the occidental representation of the human body along history.  Originaly made in the 5th century BC with bronze, this...

Givenchy Ready To Wear Fall 2011
Riccardo Tisci is by far the new king of couture, but his latest ready to wear collection for Givenchy can also take our breath away. This season we are loving the geek and gothic looks styled with amazing glasses and see through skirts. No doubt those beautiful catchy holograms are already a hit on the web.    Its amazing how Givenchy reaffirms that all in black can look perfect if you do...

A life time of Marc Jacobs
Hard as is to believe, Marc by Marc Jacobs is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.  Created in 2001, the secondary label represents the essence of the designer with a fresh and younger twist. However, although ten years are a huge reason for celebration, I personally believe that we should also be acclaiming the fact that the designer’s labour - which had a great impact on the world of...

Eric Staller
Where are you from/based? I was born and raised in New York, I lived the last 15 years in Amsterdam and 1 year ago moved with my family to San Francisco. What are the concepts behind your work? I have been an artist since 1970. I began as a photographer and made a series of ‘light drawings’, long time exposures that I made at night in NYC using a variety of light sources to create...

Patrick Tsai: 7 day diary of life in Tokyo after...
Day 1: Friday, March 11, 2011 I had the day off from work. It was a beautiful day out. The only thing I had to do today was file my Japanese taxes in Shibuya, so I skated over there in the morning. It was a little tedious, but I got it done. I had the rest of the day ahead of me, so I decided to check out the photo book library at the Museum of Photography in Ebisu. My friend Naoyuki met me there....

GAINSBOURG, VIE HÉROIQUE
He was born Lucien Gainsbourg, and as a child he walked the streets of Paris with a big yellow star on his jacket. It was 1941, and France was under Germain occupation. This little boy claimed he was an artist. This little boy studied art, was bored of playing the piano and loved painting women. But he never knew he was going to grow up to become Serge. This film, written and directed by Joann...

Louise Bourgeois: The Return of the Repressed
I’ve been looking forward to contemplating Louise Bourgeois’ work since I can recall, but I got a particular interest for her when I saw the big spider “Maman” she exhibited in many places such as Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. The melange between the building and Louise’s spider was beyond interesting. However, it wasn’t until last Saturday that I was...

Nicolás Bedel at Dabbah Torrejón
Micromegas and Macromegas: Nicolás Bedel paintings.  Yesterday we were invited to an exhibition opening at gallery Dabbah Torrejón. When we got inside we thought Nicolás’ work was good and definitely eye-catching. However, after some minutes, the lights went down and a whole new world emerged from all of the walls. Turns out you needed darkness -almost no light- in order to contemplate his...

String gardens
These gardens from Dutch company Fedor are the perfect option to create a natural space in an urban context. You can buy them or just do them yourself; it’s easier than it looks and the result is visually magical. There are many new ways in which you can defy gravity in gardening, but this is definitely one of my favourites because it’s curated and presented as an art piece   Between the seeds...

Earthquake and tsunami hit Japan
An 8.9 earthquake hit Japan at 2:46 pm (Tokyo time) causing a major tsunami to struck the shores through the Pacific as well as the Northern areas of the country. Huge waves of water destroyed houses, buildings and even made an oil refinery explode due to failures in the cooling system. Cars, boats and even a ship carrying 100 passengers were swept away along different cities across Japan.   ...

Giles F/W 2011
Giles Deacon designs for a woman whose confidenciality is unstopable. The power of this collection redifines the modern woman, letting her play with anything she wants. Our mind is opened to a lot of fur this season, including gowns, bags, and even shoes.  Argentinean Tati Cotliar sure knows how to open a show. . Feathers are also everywhere. . Rising star Saskia De Braw is conquering...

Stella at PFW
I was surprised at how Stella McCartney managed to “Take it to the next level” as she said backstage at her show. The following looks show another Stella maybe a new one, however not all of the outfits where exactly accomplished. Anyway, I agree with what she explained: “You can get stuck in one mode”, she definitely needed to make a step forward.

Paris fashion week
So, this are one of my favourite looks from Paris fashion week. I’m specially liking Gareth Pugh’s work at his own house and, of course, Nicholas Ghesquiére’s for Balenciaga. However, I must addmit I find Viktor&Rolf coats and tailoring amazing; Haider Ackermann is getting better season after season; Lanvin with Alber Elbaz was everything Paris was expecting; Thierry Mugler...

Cora groppo at BAFW
Paquidermica means pachydermia, thickening of the skin. Cora speaks about the elephant, its skin and ways of protection. Leather layers explode into a deconstruction of shapes. Superposition between two or three tops and one (simil two) bottoms. Long curves expand out of the body, protecting it. This new woman knows about science and re-interprets the concept of Earth. She can move comfortably...

Trosman at BAFW
Wikileaks changed our lives, Internet did. Giving us a new cultural panorama.Prêt-à-porter and handcraft mixed with sportswear making us feel shocked about fashion’s future. Leather, cotton, fur, silk and experimental fabrics were present this season in Trosman. Long tops covering long bottoms. Great music that made us feel on panic through the whole show. I’m not sure about which is the best word...
